Let's Dance!

Dancin' In Dundas

Finally - the May/08 play list is online!

Finally, after far far too long, the play list for the
May 3, 2008 dance is online.

Life is so busy at times...... :-)

A special thanks to our guest instructor, Rob McKean
from Whitby.

He managed to squeeze two great dances into the lesson time.

Judging by the number of step sheets taken, both dances
went over very well!

Bar? Who needs a bar?

A great turn out, an excellent instructor, and lots of dancing.
What more can you ask for on a Saturday night?

I expect to have the play list online by the end of this week.

As those who attended discovered, the executive of Legion Branch 36
have decided that there are not enough bar sales at our dances
to justify providing a bartender.

Therefore, anyone who wishes to purchase a drink has to
go downstairs to the clubroom,
pay for their drink,
and have it set up in the dumbwaiter.

To compensate for this, we are making nonalcoholic drinks
(bottled water and pop) available for $1.00 each.
As always, iced tap water is available for free, as is tea and coffee.

We don't think this effected the evening.
This change represents a minor inconvenience, not a problem,
as far as I can tell.

Not having a bartender represents a savings for us,
since we have always paid for the bartender directly,
above and beyond the cost of the hall rental.
Such savings will impact any changes to admission price for next year.

If you have an opinion, please feel free to contact the Legion directly.

Join us on June 14, 2008 for more dancing!

Guest instructor: Jaci Gecelter from Toronto, ON

Same place!
Same time!
Same fun!

Doors open at 7:00 PM,
Lesson from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM,
Draws at 11:00 PM,
Dance continues until you hear Hasta Manana!

50/50 draw, door prizes, good friends, cash bar downstairs,
wood dance floor, and LOTS of music.

Old Notes

March, 2008

A good turnout, and lots of good dancing!

March, 2008

As anticipated, turnout was a bit lighter this past Saturday.

The play list is now online. See the line below.

We knew some people would be away at the Fort Wayne workshop,
and others has personal commitments.
The turnout was good, and we all had a great evening of dancing!.

The dances taught by our guest instructor, Donna Laurin, are linked below.

March, 2008

So much for the weather keeping people at home!

March, 2008

There was a great turnout last night!

Many thanks to all who braved the weather
to dance with us.

The play list is now online, linked below.

Feb 2008

More snow threatening...but not a lot!

Feb 2008

Update as of Saturday @ 1135hrs

Just back from Toronto - Young and Steeles area,
via Steeles, Hwy 407, and Hwy 410.

Certainly less than ideal driving, but not terrible.
The drive over was trickier, since there was slush on the road.
The slush is now gone.
Environment Canada forecast for Brampton and Toronto
sounds worse than for Hamilton.

It is our opinion that we should hold the dance tonight.

We recognize that many people are not comfortable driving in this weather.
If so, we hope to see you in March!
If you are coming, please drive carefully,
and add a bit of travel time to allow for the road conditions.

Update as of Friday, Feb 8/08 @ 0913hrs and @1124hrs:

The weather report for Hamilton for Saturday is looking just fine!
Environment Canada is calling for 2cm snow
during the morning and afternoon.
High of 2 and a low of 0.

Yeah!

We are really getting beat up this year by snowfalls!

The Envinroment Canada forecast for this Saturday,
as of Thursday, is "periods of snow".
680News this morning was calling for 5 - 6cm snow.
That is a lot less than we had during the December dance!

Unless something very, very drastic happens,
the February 9 dance is on!

In other news

First - guest instructors names have been added to
the list of 2008 dates.
This will be updated as we fill
the remaining spots.

Second - I have added the instructor names and
choreographer's names to our past dances below.

Dec 2007

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...
And it did!
But we danced anyways!!

Dec 2007

The pot luck finger food table was a huge success!
Many thanks to all those who contributed -
both bringing snacks, and by enjoying them!

Excellent turnout for a December dance,
'specially with a snow storm threatening.

The storm did not blow in to Dundas until much later than expected.
We shut down a half hour early, just in case.
A lot of people left after the 11:00PM draws,
which should have put them ahead of most of the storm.

Monica taught Kathy Hunyadi's dance Christmas Everyday.
The play list is now available!

Next Dundas dance is on February 9, 2008.

Christmas is coming!

And we are going to celebrate the season
with a pot luck Christmas goodie table,
and lots and lots of music and friends and dancing!

Bring your favourite finger food for a buffet table
at our December 1, 2007 dance.

Coffee and tea provided.
Cash bar will be open, of course
Non-alcoholic carryins are welcome, as always.

A special Christmas Dance flyer is available.

Great turnout on November 3!

Even more proof of the old saying:
The More, The Merrier!

November 3 set another attendance record!

As always, many thanks to all who danced with us last night.

Special thanks to our guest instructor,
Jennie Johns from Windsor, Ontario.
She taught Wanna Know Why,
choreographed by Maggie Gallagher.

The play list and step sheet are now online, linked below.

From 8:00PM until 1:00AM, we danced to 79 songs.
Including the warmup dances and lesson,
those who were there for the full evening
danced to a total of 88 songs!
